Dogs don’t need bath often as human. Long haired dogs need two or three baths a month. If you bathe them often, they will lose their natural oil from their skin. If they are dirty or smelly then the bathing routine should increase.

*Different kinds of dog coats:

Usually, There are 3 types of dogs:

1. Short coated dogs,

2. Medium coated dogs,

3. Long coated dogs.

1. Short coated dogs: Short coated dogs have very silky, shiny and small coats. It’s almost like the dog has silky skin rather than fur. Short-haired breeds are great for people who want relatively lower maintenance than other coat types. Before starting the bathing process, understand the dog’s coat type. This knowledge will give you the edge when it comes to making the dog look his best .Short haired dogs are okay with fewer baths for a long time. They will need a routine bath once in a month if they don’t get dirts.

2. Medium coated dogs: Medium coated breeds have fur that is almost one inch long. With this type of coat, the fur may stand slightly off the bodyand it could give a fluffier appearance. Dogs that have medium fur don’t shed more  just because they have longer hair. These dogs need less bath than the long coated dogs.

3. Long coated dogs: Long coated breeds have so long hair that sometimes it reaches the floor! When people think of a dog of long hair types, they often think of the distinctive coats on show dogs such as Afghan Hounds.

These types of dogs need frequent bathing for maintaining good health.

★ The process of bathing:

1. Nail clipping : Dogs need a nail clipping before bath. Owners often forget to check them.

2. Brushing fur: You should brush their fur before the bath to get rid of excess hairfall. Brushing their hair before and after the bath will make them feel comfortable. It will make their bath enjoyable.

3. Protecting ears: Remember to protect dog’s ears while bathing. Wrap their ears with something so that the bathing water can’t enter in their ears. If inserted, ear infection can happen.

4. Using lukewarm water: Using lukewarm water will ease their bath. Warm water will work perfectly with the shampoo to kill the germ.

5. Using Shampoo: Using tearless shampoo is intelligent. It helps for a comfortable bath. Human shampoos will dry their skin and harm it.

6. Scrubbing hairs: Scrub hairs the way you want them tto grow. This method is perfect for proper wash. It will clear the ingrown fur hairs.

7. Rinse: Rinse the dog perfectly. Make sure the shampoo is properly removed. Otherwise, it will make skin problems. If not sure, wash them twice or thrice.

8. Dry: Wash the hairs with a simple pressure by wrapping them in a towel. Do it before they shake off their skin water.  You can use a dryer to dry them. But, human dryer can burn the skin. Use special dryer for them.
