The steps of grooming a cat:

1. Bathing: Cats have built in grooming system. But, if it goes into something dirty then the owner should give them a bath. The polite way to bathe a cat is to give her a brush first then putting cotton in her ears and then giving a bath. This process will reduce the risk of getting scratched. Special shampoos for cats should be used. The owner should avoid human modified shampoos for cats.

2. Brushing: Cats have either long or short hair. Though cats clean themselves, but brushing a cat regularly will save the cat from dirt, grease and dead hair. If the cat has long hair, the owner should brush the cat once or twice a week. The owner can brush the cat gently so that the skin doesn’t get hurt. The cat can be brushed while she is sleeping.  

4. Ear care: Cats also get some tiny parasites called ear mites in their ear. These tiny things can hinder the cats ear and can lead to hearing problems. The owner should use cotton with specially formulated ear cleaner and then clean the ear mites from ear canal. 

The owner should hold the earflip with one hand and squeeze the dirt with other hand.

5. Paw and nail care: The nails should be trimmed within every few weeks. It will help preventing breaking, infection and irregular geits happen from the long nails. The owner should wrap the cat in a towel and then use the nail-cutter specially made for cats. 

6. Dental care: Cats need clean and sharp teeth. The cats gum should be firm, pink and not swollen. The owner should wash the brownish tatar and avoid hurting the teeth. Owner should use specifically made toothbrush and feline toothpaste. Salt and water can be used sometimes. Start by massaging gently  the cat’s gum with finger or cotton.
